Band 5 Registered Nurse – Ophthalmology Outpatients (Inverness)

About the role

We are seeking a Band 5 Registered Nurse to join the Ophthalmology Outpatients Department at the new National Treatment Centre‑Highland in Inverness. This 36‑hour‑per‑week position will cover maternity leave and offers the chance to develop specialist eye‑care skills within a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct pre‑assessment clinics for ophthalmology patients.
• Perform fundus fluorescein angiograms and operate optical testing equipment.
• Ensure all required investigations are completed before patients see the clinician.
• Provide high‑quality patient care during weekday clinics (08:00‑18:00) and occasional weekend shifts (1‑2 per month).

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (Adult) with a current NMC registration.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Flexibility to adapt to a dynamic clinical environment.
• Willingness to undertake full training in ophthalmology if not already experienced.
