Automation & Services Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Automation & Services Engineer to lead plant modification projects from concept through commissioning. The role involves managing multidisciplinary teams, coordinating with external contractors, and ensuring all work complies with mill procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage multi‑disciplinary plant modification and project work from design to close‑out.
• Prepare enquiry and specification documents and oversee contractor resources.
• Ensure compliance with Mill Change Management Procedures, standard specifications, safety standards and the OHS Act.
• Design control‑system modifications for process and maintenance improvements.
• Provide technical support and breakdown analysis for maintenance engineers, focusing on instrumentation and distributed control systems.
• Maintain plant drawings, technical documentation, process‑control software and equipment specifications.

Required profile

• B.Tech in Control Systems or B.Sc in Electrical Engineering/Mechatronics (or equivalent).
• Minimum 5 years industrial process‑control experience plus 3 years in distributed process control within pulp and paper.
• At least 3 years supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of ABB 800xA systems.

• Design, build and installation of fibre‑optic networks.
• Server setup and networked backup management.
