Audit Manager – 12-Month Contract (Johannesburg)

About the role

Synergy Chartered Accountants Global is seeking an experienced Audit Manager to lead a diverse portfolio of external, internal and forensic audit engagements in Johannesburg. The role is a 12‑month contract with the possibility of extension or permanent placement based on performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead audit engagements from planning and risk assessment through final reporting.
• Manage, mentor and develop audit team members across multiple projects.
• Serve as the primary client contact, building and maintaining professional relationships.
• Report findings, risks and recommendations to partners and senior leadership.
• Identify business development opportunities and support firm growth.
• Ensure compliance with ISA, IFRS and South African regulatory frameworks.
• Review and sign off working papers, audit files and financial statements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of audit methodologies and quality standards.
• Support month‑end, year‑end and statutory reporting processes as required.

Required profile

• CA (SA) qualification – mandatory.
• 5–7 years post‑qualification audit experience.
• Proven experience leading audit engagements and managing teams.
• Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and ISA.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and client portfolios concurrently.
• Excellent client relationship and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong report writing, communication and presentation abilities.
• Capability to work independently under pressure while maintaining quality.

Required skills

• CA (SA) qualification.
• In‑depth knowledge of IFRS.
• In‑depth knowledge of ISA.
• Experience with Draftworx or equivalent audit software.
