Audit and Performance Committee Member (3 positions)

About the role

Metsimaholo Local Municipality is appointing three qualified members to its Audit and Performance Committee to ensure compliance with Section 166 of the Municipal Finance Management Act. The appointment is for a three‑year fixed term and members are remunerated per meeting according to the Council’s tariff.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advisory services to the Council under MFMA Section 166.
• Review the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls.
• Examine and review the annual financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Review and advise on the Municipal Performance Management System and related policies.

Required profile

• Relevant degree in Accounting, Financial Management or Auditing, and CIA or CA(SA) qualification.
• Minimum five years’ experience in audit and risk management, preferably at senior level.
• Knowledge of Municipal Performance Management System and public sector reporting formats (GRAAP).
• Understanding of corporate governance principles and legal frameworks.
