About the role
Join the Engine Team as an Assistant Reefer, supporting the Refrigeration Officers in maintaining and repairing the vessel’s air‑conditioning and refrigeration systems. You will work under the guidance of the Chief Refrigeration Officer to ensure the ship remains cool and operational. The position involves both routine maintenance and on‑call duties to address any system issues promptly.
Key responsibilities
- Support the Refrigeration Officer in maintenance and upkeep of ventilation, air‑condition and refrigeration systems.
- Assist in execution of maintenance and routine testing of equipment, instruments and automation.
- Ensure application of the company’s global Health, Environment, Safety and Security Management System during activities.
- Perform on‑call duties according to department rotation.
- Carry out elementary mechanical tasks.
Required profile
- Grade 12 qualification.
- South African passport.
- Minimum 12–18 months proven experience with AC/HVAC systems.
Required skills
- Air Conditioning systems.
- HVAC systems.
- Ventilation system knowledge.
