Assistant General Manager – Upmarket Restaurant

About the role

The Assistant General Manager will support the restaurant’s leadership team in delivering exceptional guest experiences while ensuring smooth day‑to‑day operations. This role combines strategic thinking with hands‑on management of both front‑of‑house and back‑of‑house teams in an upmarket dining environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and motivate front‑of‑house and back‑of‑house staff, fostering a collaborative and growth‑focused culture.
• Ensure compliance with safety, hygiene and food‑safety standards, overseeing SOPs for opening, closing and cleanliness.
• Manage cash handling processes, including petty cash and waiter cash‑ups, with strict accuracy.
• Handle guest feedback, resolve complaints, and maintain a welcoming ambiance and décor standards.
• Assist in financial planning, monitor inventory, conduct stock counts and implement rotation to minimise waste.
• Prepare rosters, schedule staff, and support ordering and receipt verification of supplies.
• Analyse performance reports, identify improvement areas and implement corrective actions.

Required profile

• Minimum 3–4 years of experience in a restaurant management position.
• Proven ability to manage, coordinate and motivate teams.
• Solid understanding of basic food safety and hygiene regulations.
• Experience overseeing SOPs related to restaurant opening, closing and cleanliness.
• Demonstrated competence in cash management and petty‑cash procedures.
• Experience training, coaching and onboarding new staff.
• Strong inventory management skills, including stock counts, rotation and storage practices.
