Application Support Analyst

About the role

Absa is hiring an Application Support Analyst at its Head Office. The role manages the implementation, maintenance and enhancement of applications systems so they are a reliable part of business processes, and drives convergence of technologies while liaising with internal customers and technology vendors. It is a standalone position requiring independence and good judgement about when to collaborate, delegate or escalate.

Key responsibilities

• Service Application Availability (60%): report availability, reliability and maintainability; support business users; reduce incident frequency and duration; drive corrective actions and improvements; coordinate application changes.
• Test Management (15%): work with Release Analysts, review releases, run installation, functional, performance, integration and UAT tests, coordinate back-out and post-release testing, and compile and communicate test results.
• Risk Management (15%): support the IT Risk and Governance team, help improve governance, risk, controls and compliance, set KPIs and targets, and contribute to team goals.
• People Management (10%): drive own performance development, prepare for reviews, identify training needs and complete required training and accreditations.
• All work must comply with regulatory requirements, the Absa Operational Risk Framework and internal policies, and manage risk events relevant to the role.

Required profile

• Continuous improvement mindset, strong analytical and interpersonal skills, and enjoyment of an agile, delivery-focused environment.
• Maturity to work independently day to day and know when to collaborate, delegate or escalate.
• FETC certificate in Physical, Mathematical, Computer and Life Sciences (required).
