Analytics Engineer II

About the role

The Insights and Media Solutions team at Capitec Bank drives client data analytics and optimisation strategies, turning client data into actionable intelligence. The Analytics Engineer II bridges the gap between Data Engineers and Data Analysts, turning complex data into clean, trusted data assets that analysts and engineers can use quickly. It is described as an engineering role with an analytics lens.

Key responsibilities

• Transform complex data into accessible, reliable and performant data models and insights that drive organisational decision-making.
• Partner with Data Architects and Data Modellers to design scalable data models aligned with enterprise strategy.
• Build efficient, reproducible data assets such as data models, data marts and semantic layers, plus scalable transformations and pipelines.
• Apply CI/CD practices, testing frameworks and orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow) to productionise and maintain robust data solutions.
• Embed data governance and quality assurance into every solution from the ground up.

Required profile

• At least 5-8 years' experience in analytics engineering or a closely related data role.
• Bachelor's degree in an analytical, data or technical subject, or other.
• Clear criminal and credit record.

Required skills

• Advanced grasp of data modelling best practices.
• Data governance and quality assurance.
• Cloud data platforms and orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow, Prefect).
• Software engineering principles such as CI/CD and testing.
