Air-Conditioning Service Technician - Durban

About the role

Our client is seeking qualified and experienced Air‑Conditioning Service Technicians to join their service team in Durban. The role involves servicing, maintaining, repairing and commissioning air‑conditioning equipment, including VRV/VRF and chiller systems. Strong technical fault‑finding abilities, professional customer service and effective service management are essential.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned servicing, preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs on air‑conditioning systems.
• Diagnose technical faults and perform repairs to restore equipment to safe and efficient operation.
• Execute commissioning requirements for VRV and chiller systems.
• Conduct site inspections, assess equipment condition and prepare costed job proposals.
• Provide 24‑hour telephonic technical support and assist after‑sales engineers.
• Prepare detailed written reports, photographic evidence and accurate job cards for service coordinators.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or N3 HVAC Diploma; National Trade Certificate in HVAC&R.
• Safe Handling of Refrigerants Certification – SAQCC Category B, First Aid Level 1.
• 5–7 years of relevant service and maintenance experience in air‑conditioning/HVAC, including at least 5 years of fault‑finding, 3 years of commissioning and 3 years of installation.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with VRV/VRF and chiller systems.
• Fault‑finding, commissioning and installation of HVAC equipment.
• Heat‑load calculation and general HVAC design knowledge.
• Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and email.

What we offer

• R600,000 CTC per annum (negotiable based on experience and qualifications).
