Advanced Nurse Practitioner – Hospital at Night (Band 7)

About the role

The Hospital at Night team at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary is seeking an Advanced Clinical Practitioner or Advanced Nurse Practitioner on a 12‑month fixed‑term/secondment basis. The role is primarily night‑time, with occasional day duties for meetings and induction support.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and manage deteriorating patients and respond to clinical emergencies overnight.
• Clerk unscheduled patients and provide comprehensive clinical care.
• Lead and mentor trainees and Senior Healthcare Support Workers.
• Participate in daytime meetings and support medical colleagues as required.
• Maintain and develop advanced practice competencies with allocated clinical supervision time.

Required profile

• Postgraduate Diploma (PgDip) in Advanced Clinical Practice or equivalent qualification.
• Proven experience in an advanced practice nursing or clinical practitioner role.
• Ability to work predominantly night shifts while maintaining a healthy work‑life balance through self‑rostering.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and supporting team learning.
