Admissions Clerk

About the role

La Verna Private Hospital is looking for a suitably qualified Admissions Clerk for its Reception & Admissions department. The clerk welcomes and admits patients to the hospital and deals with general queries, including casualty admissions at the trauma unit and patients at the main reception.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all admission documents (doctor's note, ID, medical aid card) are received, copied and scanned.
• Obtain and confirm authorisations with medical aid providers for patients.
• Enter ICD codes on patients' profiles in the system and keep admission forms accurate on a daily basis.
• Print patient labels and admission forms for the wards each day.
• Discharge patients on a daily basis.
• Collect and post payments (deposits and general) correctly.
• Assist patients with forms to request hospital files and receive payment.
• Make sure all pre-admissions are completed in time.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification (NQF Level 4).
• Previous administrative experience in a medical environment is advantageous.
• Ability to stay calm and focused in emergency situations.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Flexible with working hours and shifts.
• Candidates with disabilities will be given preference.
