Experienced Theatre Registered Nurse

About the role

La Verna Private Hospital is recruiting an experienced Registered Nurse for its Theatre department. The nurse provides safe, cost-effective patient care in line with hospital standards and policies, and delivers direct and/or indirect nursing care, assessing, planning, executing and supervising care to meet patient needs.

Key responsibilities

• Practice patient care according to the Scope of Practice and take full responsibility for these activities.
• Contribute to the holistic care of patients and attend handover at the start of each shift.
• Work day and night shifts and be able to cope with stressful conditions.
• Maintain adequate records and comply with legal requirements.
• Keep a therapeutic and safe environment by upholding health and safety standards and infection prevention and control policy.
• Control and manage stock properly, ensuring it is charged and credited correctly.
• Promote good relations with patients, relatives and visitors.

Required profile

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse.
• At least 2 years of working experience in a theatre environment scrubbing for all major disciplines.
• A qualification in Operating Room Science is an advantage.
• Flexible with working hours and shifts; able to implement health practice standards required by accredited bodies and health legislation.
• Customer-focused approach and full responsibility for own work output.
