Active Directory Specialist – On-site Contract in Cape Town

About the role

The Active Directory Specialist will be responsible for managing, maintaining and troubleshooting the company’s Active Directory environment on a contract basis. This on‑site position is based in Cape Town and works closely with infrastructure, network and security teams to ensure reliable identity and access services.

Key responsibilities

• Administer user and group accounts, organizational units and Group Policy Objects.
• Monitor directory services health, apply updates and enforce security policies.
• Investigate and resolve incidents related to authentication, single sign‑on and access management.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, network and security teams to support integration with enterprise systems.
• Document configurations, contribute to process improvements and support audit and compliance activities.

Required profile

• Strong experience in Active Directory administration, including user/group management and GPOs.
• Solid knowledge of Windows Server, domain controllers, DNS and DHCP.
• Understanding of identity and access management concepts and security best practices.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting directory issues and performing root‑cause analysis.
• Experience with scripting or automation tools such as PowerShell.
• Familiarity with Microsoft 365 or Azure AD hybrid solutions is an advantage.
• Relevant IT certifications (e.g., Microsoft, CompTIA) and a diploma or degree in IT or related field are beneficial.
• Strong communication skills and a detail‑oriented work approach.
