Accountant – Stellenbosch

About the role

Shift Pursuit, a leading payment aggregator, is seeking an Accountant to join its finance team in South Africa. The role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, supporting statutory reporting, and providing analysis for senior management.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger and allocate costs and revenues across group companies.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and related financial reports in line with accounting standards.
• Perform account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and reconcile inter‑company loan balances.
• Implement and monitor financial controls and processes, including monthly VAT reconciliations.
• Review and approve new beneficiaries on banking profiles.
• Assist with external audits by supplying required documentation.
• Support statutory reporting, compliance processes and provide data for Board packs.
• Collaborate with the finance team on ad‑hoc queries and specialised analysis.

Required profile

• Relevant post‑graduate qualification in finance.
• Completed SAIPA articles or at least three years of relevant experience.
• Experience with financial reporting for a listed entity or strong knowledge of IFRS and statutory reporting.
• Previous experience in the financial/payments industry is advantageous.
