Accountant – Johannesburg

About the role

Our client, an established accounting and advisory firm operating in Johannesburg, is seeking motivated and detail‑oriented accountants. The position is ideal for candidates who have completed their SAIPA articles or are in the final stages of signing off their articles and wish to work with a diverse client portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare annual financial statements in line with applicable accounting standards.
• Compile monthly management accounts and financial reports for clients.
• Process and review accounting records, including VAT, PAYE, Income Tax and other statutory returns.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management.
• Perform balance‑sheet reconciliations and general‑ledger reviews.
• Liaise with clients, providing ongoing accounting support and advice.
• Support audit processes and respond to audit queries.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and controls.

Required profile

• BCom Accounting or equivalent qualification.
• Completed SAIPA articles or in the final stages of completion.
• Strong knowledge of South African accounting principles and tax legislation.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines independently and within a team.
• Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
