Accountant – IFRS 15 & 16 Specialist

About the role

This position supports the establishment and ongoing financial management of a growing entity. You will set up finance processes, ensure compliance with IFRS standards, and provide high‑quality financial insights to aid decision‑making during the build‑out phase.

Key responsibilities

• Reconcile all balance‑sheet accounts and prepare monthly journals, including revenue and lease accounting in line with IFRS 15 and IFRS 16.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, variance commentary, quarterly board reports, and annual financial statements.
• Respond to audit queries and perform ad‑hoc analyses to support strategic decisions.
• Support implementation and optimisation of financial systems, ensuring alignment with IFRS 15/16 requirements.
• Assist in designing finance processes, documenting workflows, and conducting system testing (UAT) and data validation.

Required profile

• CA (SA) qualification.
• 1–2 years of experience in a commercial finance environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of IFRS, especially IFRS 15 (revenue recognition) and IFRS 16 (leases).
• Ability to interpret contracts, apply accounting judgment, and work independently to meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication, commercial acumen, and high attention to detail.

Required skills

• IFRS 15 and IFRS 16 expertise.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of CPM tools and Microsoft Dynamics 365 (advantage).
• Experience with ERP or financial systems implementation.
