Account Director – Corporate Communications

About the role

The Account Director – Corporate Communications will act as a trusted business partner for senior clients, shaping long‑term brand and communication strategies. Working at the heart of a consultancy, you will balance demanding client expectations with the creative capabilities of the internal team.

Key responsibilities

• Establish, manage and nurture relationships with senior‑level clients (CMOs, brand managers, C‑suite, etc.).
• Develop in‑depth, long‑term brand and communications strategies across the African continent.
• Collaborate with PR and specialist agencies to create social media and digital platform strategies.
• Lead the creation of strategic campaigns and creative briefs that drive measurable business impact.
• Own financial stewardship, including forecasting, revenue targets and project profitability.
• Lead high‑stakes meetings and present complex strategies to clients.
• Manage and mentor a team of Account Managers and Executives, ensuring they have the tools to succeed.
• Scope project requirements, prepare budgets and brief creative teams with clear objectives.
• Lead new‑business pitch strategy and manage the pitch process.
• Monitor campaigns, define key metrics, and compile performance reports for internal and client use.

Required profile

• Proven ability to embed as a trusted advisor to senior clients and understand their business models.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience in forecasting and revenue management.
• Leadership experience managing account teams and driving professional growth.
• Demonstrated expertise in developing brand and communications strategies, preferably across Africa.
• Excellent presentation and negotiation skills for high‑stakes client interactions.
