Academic Lecturer – Management Accounting & Finance

About the role

The School of Accounting, Finance & Tax at MANCOSA is seeking an Academic Lecturer to deliver high‑quality teaching in Management Accounting, Managerial Finance and Financial Accounting. The role supports the institution’s teaching and learning strategy, enhances student experience and contributes to research and community engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate designated modules through webinars or face‑to‑face sessions, ensuring alignment with MANCOSA’s Teaching and Learning Strategy.
• Develop and upload high‑quality academic content to the Learner Management System (LMS).
• Respond to student queries within 24 hours via the “Ask the Lecturer” platform.
• Set, mark, moderate and sign‑off assessments, participating in pre‑ and post‑assessment moderation processes.
• Review and update module guides, ensuring consistency across academic materials.
• Monitor student progress, provide academic support and innovate teaching methods to boost engagement.
• Lead research projects, supervise honours and master’s students, and engage in community initiatives.

Required profile

• Master’s qualification (NQF Level 9) in Management Accounting, Managerial Finance or Financial Accounting; doctoral degree preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in higher education or academia.
• Strong leadership, decision‑making and conflict‑resolution abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment and adapt to change.

Required skills

• Proficiency in digital literacy and use of LMS platforms.
• Applied knowledge of South African higher‑education regulatory frameworks (HEQSF, NQF, CHE, DHET, SAQA, QAF).
