Shift Technician

About the role

We are looking for a Shift Technician to join our plant operations team. The role involves maintaining and troubleshooting electrical and automation equipment in a fast‑moving FMCG environment.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret wiring diagrams and electrical drawings in a plant setting.
• Perform methodical fault finding and maintenance on motors, pumps, control panels and distribution boards.
• Maintain sensor control systems, VSDs, HMIs, switchgear, AC motors, relay logic, temperature controllers and industrial instrumentation.
• Carry out basic PLC I/O work and repairs on production machinery, including bottling equipment.
• Adhere to all safety procedures, OHS regulations and housekeeping standards.
• Support mini‑business operating activities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Matric and Trade Certificate – Electrician.
• 3‑5 years of relevant experience in an FMCG electrical/automation environment.
• Experience with bottling machinery and high‑speed S7 PLCs is a distinct advantage.
• Self‑motivated, able to work with limited supervision and under pressure.
• Strong communication skills and alignment with Heineken values.
• Willingness to work shifts and overtime as required.

Required skills

• Reading and interpreting wiring diagrams and electrical drawings.
• Fault finding and maintenance of electrical motors, pumps, control panels and distribution boards.
• Sensor control, VSD, HMI, switchgear, AC motors, relay logic, temperature controllers, industrial instrumentation.
• Basic PLC input/output knowledge, especially Siemens S7.
• Repair of production machinery, including bottling equipment.
