Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Manager

About the role

The SHE Manager will lead the Safety, Health and Environment function at Heineken Beverages' Gqeberha manufacturing plant. The role ensures compliance with all legislative and company standards while fostering a culture of risk awareness among employees.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain adherence to the OHS Act, COIDA, municipal and building regulations, SABS codes and relevant ISO standards.
• Develop, implement and monitor risk management policies, procedures and the Heineken Risk Management Program.
• Conduct hazard identification, risk assessments, audits and investigations, reporting compliance status to senior management.
• Oversee emergency planning, fire prevention and liaison with emergency services.
• Lead internal and external SHE relationships, ensure qualified SHE staffing and succession planning.
• Support site management on operational and capital expenditure related to SHE requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Risk Management, Auditing, Engineering or related field.
• 3‑5 years of SHE experience in an FMCG manufacturing environment.
• Strong investigative, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑influence abilities.
• Ability to work independently under pressure and drive strategic risk initiatives.

Required skills

• Extensive knowledge of the OHS Act, DIFR/LTIFR system, ISO 14001, ISO 9000, ISO 45001.
• Familiarity with Construction Regulations, National Building Regulations, COIDA and relevant SANS codes.
• Proficiency in Environmental Management Systems and risk‑management tools.
• Advanced computer literacy for reporting and data analysis.
