Process Control Technician

About the role

Coca‑Cola Beverages South Africa is seeking a Process Control Technician for its Lakeside plant. The role focuses on real‑time monitoring, troubleshooting and optimisation of PLC, SCADA, HMI and MES systems that control beverage production.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and support process control systems (PLC, SCADA, HMI, MES) and perform routine diagnostics.
• Analyse production data to identify trends, deviations and opportunities for process improvement.
• Collaborate with instrumentation technicians to calibrate sensors and integrate new hardware.
• Maintain up‑to‑date control logic documentation, change‑control records and system backups.
• Provide technical support during equipment commissioning, FAT/SAT and system upgrades.

Required profile

• National Certificate (N6) in Electrical Engineering, Process Control, Instrumentation or Mechatronics; preferably a National Diploma or BTech.
• 3‑5 years of experience in process control, automation or instrumentation within an FMCG or manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with GMP‑regulated or ISO‑9001 certified plants.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with Siemens S7 and Allen‑Bradley PLCs.
• Proficiency in Wonderware (or similar) SCADA and HMI configuration.
• Knowledge of MES platforms, data trending tools and Historian databases.
• Understanding of industrial communication protocols (Profibus, Modbus, Ethernet/IP).
• Basic scripting or configuration of SCADA/MES and familiarity with SAP PM or other CMMS.
