Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

This position is focused on developing and maintaining 3D mechanical designs for manufacturing equipment. The engineer will translate customer specifications into detailed models and drawings that support efficient production and assembly.

Key responsibilities

• Create and update 3D models and drawings using Inventor 3D.
• Complete designs and issue customer‑approved assembly and manufacturing drawings.
• Prepare Manufacturing Instructions (MI’s) and procurement drawings for contract‑specific equipment.
• Interpret customer specifications and apply them to design solutions.
• Maintain and update contract and job drawing files.
• Liaise with sales, engineering, purchasing, production, and quality teams to ensure project accuracy and timely delivery.
• Support the sales department with technical queries, drawings, and mechanical details.

Required profile

• Matric qualification with a Mechanical Engineering degree.
• Proven experience in a similar manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and Inventor 3D.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
