Magazine Master – Stock & Explosives Management

About the role

The Magazine Master is responsible for the receipt, dispatch and safe storage of products within the magazine, ensuring compliance with SHERQ standards and explosives legislation. This role oversees loaders, manages stock administration and maintains an organised, efficient warehouse environment.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate, supervise and monitor all magazine activities using space and mechanical handling equipment.
• Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures, regulations and legislation for receiving, put-away, picking, loading and cycle counts.
• Perform vehicle pre-use checklists and oversee loading and dispatch of products.
• Conduct scheduled inventory cycle counts, investigate discrepancies and maintain accurate perpetual stock records.
• Organise stock to maximise space utilisation, enforce FIFO management and maintain floor-to-system matching.
• Supervise loaders, manage daily tasks, work instructions, schedules and overtime rosters.
• Maintain effective housekeeping of the magazine and yard to meet SHERQ and legislative requirements.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent with a Magazine Master Certificate (CIE).
• At least 2 years of material handling experience and 2 years in magazine and stock control within an explosives environment.
• Minimum 1 year experience in explosives production.

Required skills

• Warehouse management systems and related software proficiency.
• Knowledge of perpetual stock count methods and inventory accuracy measures.
• Understanding of relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, including the Explosives Act.
• Strong numerical and administration capabilities.
