Legal Professional – Civil Law (Hybrid, Cape Town)

About the role

An exciting opportunity exists for a driven Legal Professional to join a dynamic civil law team in Century City, Cape Town. The role operates within a legal‑insurance environment, providing advice and dispute resolution to policyholders through phone, email and face‑to‑face consultations.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain detailed client instructions via in‑person, telephonic or written communication.
• Provide immediate basic legal advice and handle family law, estate and other civil matters.
• Draft legal documents such as warning letters, settlement agreements, wills and client correspondence.
• Conduct informal mediation and negotiations to achieve amicable outcomes.
• Maintain accurate file notes, case diaries and monitor policy‑related payments.
• Perform legal research and apply current legislation to case assessments.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures and legal standards.
• Liaise with internal departments, support staff and escalate matters when required.

Required profile

• LLB degree; admission as an Attorney or Advocate is advantageous.
• Minimum 2 + years post‑articles experience in a civil legal environment.
• Ability to speak, read and write in at least two official South African languages.
• High level of integrity, professionalism and accountability.
• Strong analytical, organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Capability to work independently, take initiative and collaborate within a team.
