Financial Accountant (6-month contract)

About the role

We are seeking a technically strong Financial Accountant to join our dynamic team on a 6‑month contract. The role offers exposure to senior‑level finance responsibilities, including full‑cycle accounting, cash management and audit preparation.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices and expense claims.
• Support month‑end and year‑end close processes, preparing subsidiary and group financial statements and audit schedules.
• Review bank and credit‑card reconciliations, investigating and resolving reconciling items promptly.
• Manage day‑to‑day cash management activities, including cash flow forecasting and short‑term funding coordination.
• Prepare cash calls, drawdown notices and related calculations and schedules.
• Produce accurate management and regulatory reports, supporting schedules and draft reports.
• Lead and supervise bookkeepers, setting priorities, reviewing work quality and ensuring deadlines are met.
• Assist with year‑end procedures, group AFS preparation and audit processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; SAIPA or SAICA articles completed.
• Proven experience as a Financial Accountant or similar role, including month‑end/year‑end processes and supervisory responsibilities.
• Experience in cash management, cash‑flow forecasting and audit documentation preparation.
• Exposure to ERP implementations, rollouts or system integrations; Oil & Gas industry experience is a plus.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
• Strong knowledge of MS Office.
• Experience with ERP systems and accounting software.
