Driver – Explosives Transport

About the role
The driver is responsible for transporting explosives between ISAP, ISCP, other departments and manufacturing plants while ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and safety procedures. This role supports the smooth flow of materials and finished products in a high‑risk environment.
Key responsibilities
- Transport explosives in accordance with regulations and company procedures.
- Follow spillage cleaning protocols and conduct daily vehicle inspections using the prescribed check sheet.
- Obtain and renew required licences and certificates (explosives licence monthly, COF annually, Rigid Heavy/Light Vehicle Certificates, Dangerous Goods permits, PPE standards).
- Load and unload explosives safely, return used lead azide drums, and transport detonator waste, acid/reagents, and effluent to designated sites.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment inside and outside the vehicle.
- Complete delivery notes, requisition forms, logbooks, and trolley dispatch records for traceability.
Required profile
- Matric or NQF Level 4 qualification.
- Valid EC 1 code licence and a professional driving permit.
- At least three years of driving experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Knowledge of explosives regulations, dangerous‑goods transportation procedures, and relevant SHEQ legislation (Explosives Act, OHS Act, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001).
- Familiarity with World Class Manufacturing or similar production philosophies.

- Computer literacy.
