Physiotherapist

About the role

The physiotherapist is expected to support the medical team with assessment and treatment of crewmembers as per the Doctors’ request and to help mitigate and prevent injuries in collaboration with the Safety Officer, Safety team and Staff Captain. Additional duties may be assigned as needed in coordination with shoreside Medical Operations and Risk Management.

Key responsibilities

• Understand and apply the Safety and Quality Management System (SQM) policies and procedures relevant to the role.
• Provide administrative assistance to the onboard team, including completion of medical forms and reports.
• Ensure confidentiality of all medical information.
• Deliver one‑on‑one or small‑group training to new crew in critical departments such as Food Service, Food Preparation, Housekeeping, and Entertainment.
• Monitor onboard musculoskeletal injuries and focus oversight and training on high‑risk departments.
• Maintain current medical records in the Sea Care system for crew members receiving physiotherapy assessment or treatment.
• Organize the daily schedule with the Senior Doctor, covering patient appointments, training sessions, safety meetings, injury mitigation programs, and reporting.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or directed.

Required profile

• Grade 12 education.
• South African passport.
• MA degree in Physiotherapy or a similar relevant field.
• Diploma or degree from an accredited physiotherapy school or university.
• Valid physiotherapist license from the country or state/province of origin.
• Minimum of 3 years relevant experience.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Sea Care medical records system.
