Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a fast‑moving engineering and manufacturing environment in Gauteng. The successful candidate will apply strong design expertise to develop innovative, custom‑engineered solutions while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Create detailed 3D models and 2D engineering drawings using CAD software.
• Generate accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and documentation for manufacturing.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate product concepts into manufacturable designs.
• Apply mechanical design principles and manufacturing process knowledge to optimise parts and assemblies.
• Participate in design reviews, troubleshoot issues, and implement design improvements.

Required profile

• BEng or BTech degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a mechanical design environment.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, material selection, and manufacturing processes.
• High attention to detail, problem‑solving ability, and effective communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Autodesk, Inventor, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel for data analysis and BOM management.
