Maintenance Assistant – Production Machinery

About the role

The Maintenance Assistant will support the upkeep of production machinery and plant equipment at our Alberton facility. You will work closely with artisans to ensure equipment reliability, minimise downtime, and maintain a safe, clean working environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with installation, repair, and routine maintenance of plant machinery and transport component equipment.
• Clean parts, strip basic components, and prepare workspaces for maintenance activities.
• Perform basic building maintenance tasks such as painting and equipment cleaning according to work instructions.
• Maintain workshop cleanliness, safeguard tools, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Handle heavy materials and move components across the manufacturing floor safely.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns to minimise plant downtime.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification.
• Engineering certificate or equivalent.
• 1‑2 years exposure to plant machinery maintenance.
• Basic knowledge of maintenance systems and mechanical concepts.
• Strong attention to detail, planning and organisational abilities.
• Technically inclined with basic hand skills.

Required skills
