Trauma Unit Manager – Gauteng

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Trauma Trained Unit Manager to lead the Trauma Unit in Gauteng. The role combines clinical leadership with operational management to ensure safe, high-quality, patient‑centred trauma care.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the Trauma Unit, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and healthcare legislation.
• Provide clinical leadership and mentorship to nursing staff, supporting performance, development and competency.
• Manage staff scheduling, rostering and resource allocation, including stock and equipment.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation, monitor patient outcomes and drive quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Promote infection prevention, participate in audits, risk management and incident investigations.
• Collaborate with doctors, multidisciplinary teams and hospital management to deliver coordinated trauma care.

Required profile

• Degree in Nursing Administration and Education or Management (essential).
• Degree or diploma in General Nursing (essential).
• Post‑basic Diploma in Trauma/Emergency Nursing (essential).
• 3–5 years of trauma nursing experience (essential) and SANC registration (essential).
• Previous experience as a Unit Manager is preferred.
