Shift Breakdown Technician (Mining Equipment)

About the role

Join Epiroc as a Shift Breakdown Technician and ensure the reliability of autonomous drilling equipment at our Kolomela site. You will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and optimising surface rotary blasthole drills while supporting safe and efficient mining operations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform planned maintenance and diagnose faults to minimise equipment downtime.
• Troubleshoot and optimise autonomous systems, including RCS, sensors and other digital mining technologies.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis (RCA) to prevent recurring failures.
• Prepare accurate maintenance reports and communicate performance data to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with site teams, product specialists and clients to drive continuous improvement.
• Coach junior technical assistants and share best practices.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (or equivalent) and a recognised trade certificate (e.g., Diesel Mechanic, Millwright).
• Minimum 3 years experience in mining or heavy‑equipment environments.
• Proven experience with Epiroc or similar OEM surface rotary blasthole drills.
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic and electrical knowledge.
• Experience with automation systems, RCS or digital mining technologies is advantageous.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to work independently with high integrity.
