Site Technician – Drill Rig & Automation Specialist

About the role

The client is looking for a highly skilled Site Technician to provide specialised support on drill rigs and automation systems at customer sites. The role focuses on equipment reliability, safety and continuous improvement in productivity.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scheduled services, breakdown repairs and fault finding on EDS equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and automation systems and conduct root‑cause analysis.
• Support automation implementation and ensure alignment with site requirements.
• Build strong relationships with customers, coach mine staff and promote aftermarket services.
• Liaise with product engineers for development and testing.
• Participate in productivity and efficiency projects, manage spare‑parts inventory and ensure safe handling of vehicles and equipment.
• Submit daily site reports, weekly performance reports and promptly report safety issues.

Required profile

• Millwright trade qualification preferred or proven experience in mining equipment maintenance.
• Grade 12 with N4/N5/N6 technical qualification or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Strong technical knowledge of surface rotary blasthole drills and advanced RCS troubleshooting.
• Experience with Trimble high‑precision GPS systems and automation implementation.
• Computer literate with MS Office proficiency.
• Ability to work independently under pressure, travel and stand‑by as required.
