About the role
Sasol is seeking a Retail Category Manager to lead the national product portfolio for its energy business. The role combines strategic planning, pricing management and supplier coordination to align the retail offering with customer needs and corporate objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Drive growth and profitability across the retail energy category through innovative marketing and pricing initiatives.
- Develop and implement a commercially viable category strategy, including new product concepts and market penetration plans.
- Negotiate pricing, promotional deals and new product lines with external suppliers, ensuring compliance with legislation and food‑safety standards.
- Monitor local and international market trends, competitor activity and customer price perception to adjust tactics.
- Manage supplier performance using balance scorecards and industry benchmarks.
- Ensure franchisee compliance with operational duties, procedures and relevant legislation.
Required profile
- Proven experience in category or product management within a retail or energy environment.
- Strong track record of meeting financial KPIs such as turnover, margin optimisation and ROI.
- Ability to develop strategies that meet evolving consumer needs while maintaining franchisee profitability.
- Experience in supplier relationship management and negotiation.
