Responsible Pharmacist – Regulatory & QA

About the role

The client, a manufacturer and supplier of raw materials and active pharmaceutical ingredients, is seeking a qualified Responsible Pharmacist to lead regulatory compliance and quality assurance activities for its operations in Gauteng.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure regulatory compliance for all products in line with the Pharmacy Act 1974, Medicine Control Act and related legislation.
• Draft, update and maintain SOPs together with Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance teams, and provide staff training.
• Manage all SAHPRA, Department of Health and SAPC requirements, including wholesale pharmacy licence application and renewal.
• Conduct physical warehouse inspections to verify compliance.
• Assist in qualifying new raw materials and suppliers, confirming they meet required specifications.
• Maintain conformity with the company’s QA and ISO systems.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Pharmacy.
• 3‑5 years experience in Quality Assurance and Regulatory affairs.
• At least 1 year experience acting as a Responsible Pharmacist.
• Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing is preferred.
• Registered pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council.
