Registered Nurse / Independent Clinical Technologist

About the role

Melomed Renal Care is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse or Independent Clinical Technologist to join its dialysis team in Gatesville, South Africa. The successful candidate will deliver safe, evidence‑based, person‑centred dialysis care and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality haemodialysis and/or peritoneal dialysis treatment in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.
• Operate dialysis machines and water‑treatment systems, ensuring proper set‑up, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Educate and counsel patients on self‑management, treatment options, and lifestyle adjustments.
• Participate in clinical governance, quality‑improvement projects, audits, and continuous learning activities.
• Monitor clinical and patient‑reported outcomes and apply evidence‑based practice to enhance care across the patient journey.

Required profile

• Degree in Nursing or BTech in Clinical Technology.
• Registered with SANC as a Nurse/Midwife or with HPCSA as a Clinical Technologist (independent practice).
• 1‑2 years experience in a haemodialysis and/or peritoneal dialysis unit.
• Experience managing chronic kidney disease patients and operating dialysis equipment.
• Knowledge of quality‑improvement, risk‑management, and relevant South African health legislation (National Health Act, POPIA, OHS, SANC/HPCSA ethical rules).
