Pharmacy Intern – Potchefstroom

About the role

Dis‑Chem is looking for a motivated Pharmacy Intern to join the Potchefstroom store. The internship provides hands‑on experience in a retail pharmacy environment, focusing on patient‑centred care and the fundamentals of pharmaceutical practice.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the supervising pharmacist with dispensing, compounding and labeling of medicines, including Schedule 1‑6 substances.
• Support stock management, ordering and re‑packaging of pharmaceutical products.
• Interpret and verify prescriptions, capture script details accurately, and ensure patient information is correctly entered into the system.
• Provide customers with clear instructions on medication use and general health information.
• Maintain compliance with the South African Medicines Act and the Pharmacy Council’s regulations.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) and enrolment in a BPharm (4‑year) programme or a completed BPharm qualification.
• Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office.
• Willingness to work during holidays or academic breaks.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under direct supervision of a qualified pharmacist.
