Qualified Bookkeeper – Full Time

About the role

We are looking for a qualified bookkeeper to join our growing accounting practice in Cape Town. The role involves handling end‑to‑end bookkeeping for multiple clients and delivering accurate financial information for management and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain full‑function bookkeeping up to trial balance, including cashbooks, journals, debtors, creditors and general ledger.
• Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, creditors, debtors, VAT and payroll where applicable.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and reports for client decision‑making.
• Review and analyse financial information to support management decisions.
• Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements.
• Handle VAT, PAYE and other statutory submissions.
• Ensure accurate accounting records and supporting documentation are kept.
• Liaise with clients and management on accounting matters.

Required profile

• Bookkeeping or accounting qualification (Diploma, Certificate or equivalent).
• 3‑5 years of practical bookkeeping experience.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Experience with cloud‑based accounting systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple client portfolios.
• Professional, proactive and able to work independently.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Xero.
• Proficiency in Sage Accounting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
