Professional Nurse Theatre

About the role

Mediclinic is seeking a Professional Nurse for the theatre department to deliver safe, comprehensive and high-quality nursing care. The role works within a multidisciplinary team to support surgical patients from admission through discharge.

Key responsibilities

• Provide quality nursing care in collaboration with a multi-professional team.
• Identify, prevent and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
• Facilitate a positive patient experience by creating a conducive environment.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions.
• Promote a learning environment that builds staff competence.
• Ensure proper charging of all utilised stock and equipment.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in General Nursing (essential).
• Additional qualifications such as Midwifery or a postgraduate certificate/diploma in a relevant specialty are desirable.
• No prior experience required; one year of post-graduate qualification experience in a specialised unit is preferred.

Required skills

• Infection prevention and control.
• Pharmacology knowledge.
• Scientific nursing principles and processes.
• Nursing record keeping and patient assessment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Development and modification of nursing care plans.
• Basic Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) training.
• Risk identification and relevant nursing legislation awareness.
