Professional Nurse - Paediatric Critical Care

About the role

Mediclinic is seeking a Professional Nurse to join its Paediatric Critical Care unit. The role involves delivering safe, comprehensive nursing care to critically ill children, working within a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest standards of patient safety and experience.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality nursing care in collaboration with doctors, therapists and other health professionals.
• Identify, prevent and manage risks to maintain patient safety.
• Create a positive environment that supports a good patient experience.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of all nursing interventions.
• Support staff development by fostering a learning environment.
• Ensure proper charging of all stock and equipment used.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in General Nursing (essential).
• Additional qualifications such as Midwifery or a postgraduate certificate/diploma in a relevant specialty are desirable.
• No prior experience required; one year of post‑graduate experience in a specialised unit is preferred.
• Basic Life Support certification (ACLS, ATLS, PALS) and knowledge of relevant nursing legislation.
