Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant – Table View, Cape Town

About the role

Dis-Chem is seeking a Post‑Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant to join the Table View store in Cape Town. You will work under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, dispensing medications, providing pharmaceutical advice and ensuring safe, effective use of prescription medicines.

Key responsibilities

• Dispense and label medicines accurately following pharmacist verification.
• Sell Schedule 1‑5 medicines and provide patient counseling.
• Assist with compounding, manipulation and preparation of sterile and non‑sterile medicines.
• Re‑package medicines and manage stock control for all scheduled substances.
• Order medicines and scheduled substances up to Schedule 5 as instructed.
• Interpret prescriptions, select appropriate medicines, and ensure correct labeling.
• Provide patients with clear instructions on medication use and promote health education.

Required profile

• Grade 12/Matric.
• Post‑Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification.
• Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
• Willingness to work retail hours.
• Additional language proficiency is an advantage.
• Knowledge of retail/FMCG operations is beneficial.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SAP pharmacy system.
• Experience using E‑Scripting Unisolve.
