Pharmacy Intern – Blue Route Store (Cape Town)

About the role

Dis-Chem is seeking a motivated Pharmacy Intern to join the Blue Route store in Cape Town. This internship provides hands‑on exposure to the full range of pharmacy operations, allowing you to develop a solid foundation in pharmaceutical care, medication dispensing, and customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the sale and dispensing of Schedule 1‑6 medicines under direct pharmacist supervision.
• Support compounding, manipulation, and preparation of sterile and non‑sterile medicines following standard operating procedures.
• Participate in stock management, including ordering, receiving, and repackaging of pharmaceutical products.
• Interpret prescriptions, verify patient details, and ensure accurate labeling and packaging.
• Provide patients with clear instructions on medication use and promote health education.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) and enrollment in a BPharm program (4‑year degree) or recent graduate.
• Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office.
• Ability to work during degree holidays and willingness to learn pharmacy software such as Unisolve and E‑Scripting.
