Planner – Power Generation, Transmission & Infrastructure Projects

About the role

The client, a leading South African engineering and construction firm, is seeking an experienced Planner to manage schedules for power generation, transmission, rail, mining and other industrial construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain construction programmes using Primavera, Candy or MS Project, establishing baselines, milestones and critical paths.
• Monitor labour, plant and equipment requirements, prepare resource allocation reports and support cash‑flow planning.
• Produce progress reporting tools such as S‑Curves, histograms, dashboards and Earned Value Analysis, and compile monthly project reports.
• Participate in tender programme development, liaise with estimators and provide scheduling support during bid preparation.
• Track delay events, conduct schedule impact assessments and assist with claims and contractual reporting.

Required profile

• 5–10 years of planning experience in the construction industry, including bulk earthworks, civil, building and OHTE/electrical projects.
• Proficiency with Primavera P6, Candy and/or Microsoft Project.
• Relevant qualification in Construction Management, Engineering or Project Management (or Grade 12/Matric).
• Strong analytical ability, attention to detail and capacity to manage multiple projects under pressure.
