Mining Development Miner – Developer

About the role

Redpath Mining is seeking an experienced Development Miner to join its team in Johannesburg. The role focuses on safe and efficient large‑scale excavation, ensuring compliance with mining regulations and achieving production targets.

Key responsibilities

• Declare the workplace safe in line with the Minerals Act and Regulations.
• Maintain compliance with supervision points and the TMM traffic management system.
• Order materials and explosives, and ensure all equipment is in good condition.
• Lead safety meetings, delegate tasks, and complete DSTI documentation.
• Mark off faces, enforce drilling discipline, provide correct support, and identify hazards.
• Conduct risk assessments for each new task.
• Achieve daily production targets and provide accurate reporting following POLC principles.

Required profile

• Matric certificate or equivalent.
• Blasting certificate.
• Competent Person A and B certification.
• Supervisory certificate (advantageous).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Development Miner.
• Pass the Dover coordination test and a mine medical examination.

Required skills

• Operation of Load Haul Dumper and Drill Rig (Sandvik).
• Blasting techniques.
• Dover coordination testing.
• Knowledge of conventional and trackless development methods.
• Experience with large‑scale excavation and inclined/horizontal development.
• Understanding of hydropower applications in mining.
