Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are a well‑established engineering and manufacturing company seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing technical team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will turn concepts into practical engineering solutions while collaborating closely with manufacturing and project teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed 3‑D models and 2‑D drawings for custom‑designed equipment.
• Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and ensure design documentation meets quality standards.
• Work with manufacturing to optimise designs for production efficiency.
• Support project teams throughout the product development lifecycle.

Required profile

• BEng or BTech degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a mechanical design environment.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Autodesk.
• Proficiency with Inventor.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
