About the role

The Department of Social Work at Stellenbosch University seeks a dedicated Lecturer to join its academic team on the Stellenbosch Campus. The role involves teaching, research, and contributing to the department’s social impact initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate teaching in the theoretical programme.
• Coordinate a year group within the practice education programme.
• Supervise postgraduate students and guide their research projects.
• Conduct research, publish findings, and present at conferences.
• Participate in departmental and community social impact activities.
• Perform administrative duties related to teaching and research.

Required profile

• PhD in Social Work or registration for a PhD at an advanced stage.
• Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions.
• Evidence of accredited research publications and conference presentations.
• Relevant professional practice experience, preferably at senior level.
• Knowledge of BSW standards of the South African Social Work curriculum.
• Experience supervising undergraduate practice education.
• Familiarity with online teaching and learning platforms.
• Strong leadership, teamwork, and presentation abilities.
• Academic competency in both English and Afrikaans and willingness to work in a multilingual environment.
