Learning & Development Facilitator – Retail

About the role

Absolute Pets, a leading pet care retailer with over 200 stores, is seeking a dynamic Learning & Development Facilitator to design and deliver in‑person training programmes for its retail teams. Based in Cape Town, the role involves travelling to stores nationwide to ensure staff are equipped with product knowledge, customer service excellence and company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Design and facilitate engaging learning programmes covering product knowledge, company policies and customer service.
• Conduct onboarding and ongoing in‑person training sessions for store staff.
• Manage learning‑related events, including venue setup, supplier coordination and budget oversight.
• Evaluate learner performance through assessments, provide feedback and develop tools to measure training impact.
• Coordinate logistics such as venue booking, catering, material preparation and on‑the‑job coaching during store visits.

Required profile

• 2–3 years of experience in a retail or customer‑facing environment.
• Prior exposure to a training or facilitation role, with a strong ability to design, deliver and evaluate learning programmes.
• Excellent communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills, coupled with a creative and innovative mindset.
• Willingness to travel locally and a passion for pet care and retail.
