Junior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a South African design firm that creates military vehicles for overseas markets. The role is based in Pretoria-East and involves both CAD/CAE design work and technical support for internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Develop CAD/CAE models of mechanical systems and structures.
• Create detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Perform engineering analysis and calculations.
• Compile engineering documents, reports, and technical feedback.
• Provide internal and external technical support.
• Maintain and expand company knowledge bases.
• Assist with procurement, sourcing, and expediting activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
• 0–5 years of relevant experience.
• Willingness and ability to travel overseas.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Teams.

Required skills

• CAD tools: Siemens Solid Edge or SolidWorks (preferred).
• CAE/analysis tools: FEMAP, MATLAB or Python (preferred).
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles.
