Project Manager – Energy & Automation

About the role

ABB is looking for a Project Manager to lead the execution of medium‑size to large automation and energy projects in South Africa. You will work in a hybrid model, combining on‑site presence with remote collaboration, and will be part of a high‑performing team that drives leaner, cleaner industrial solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the project team and define the execution approach for projects valued between USD 15 M and 50 M.
• Oversee hand‑over, planning, monitoring, and control activities for internal and external resources.
• Support continuous improvement and simplification of project processes.
• Collaborate early with local Sales and Tendering teams on bid opportunities.
• Drive formal project acceptance, contract close‑out, and customer acknowledgment in line with contract terms.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of project management experience in the energy market.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering (light or heavy current) and a tertiary qualification in project management.
• PMP certification from the Project Management Institute.
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Valid South African Code 8 driver’s licence.
• Knowledge of FIDIC and NEC contracts is advantageous.
