Mechanical Simulation Engineer – FEA/FEM (Pretoria)

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Simulation Engineer with a strong focus on Finite Element Analysis (FEA/FEM) to join our design team in Pretoria. The role supports the development of military vehicles for an international client base, delivering accurate simulation results and technical documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare geometry and set up finite element models for static, non‑linear and dynamic/transient analyses.
• Execute simulations using FEMAP, MATLAB, Python or other CAE tools and interpret the results.
• Produce engineering reports, calculation sheets and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide technical support to design teams and assist with CAD/CAE‑based mechanical system design.
• Support procurement, sourcing and expediting activities as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Structural or Mechatronic Engineering.
• 2–5 years of professional experience performing FEA on mechanical systems.
• Proven experience with CAE workflows and ability to travel overseas when needed.

Required skills

• Finite Element Analysis (FEA/FEM).
• Siemens Solid Edge, PTC Creo or SolidWorks.
• FEMAP, MATLAB and Python.
• Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Teams.
