Head of Learning & Development

About the role

The Head of Learning & Development will lead the transformation of training from a compliance focus to a performance‑driven capability function across more than 100 restaurants. This senior role combines strategic planning with hands‑on execution to ensure learning frameworks, delivery, and systems support rapid business expansion and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a group‑wide L&D strategy aligned with growth objectives.
• Design structured learning pathways for all roles, supporting capability development and career progression.
• Oversee onboarding, skills, and management development programmes, ensuring consistent quality across sites.
• Lead trainers, content developers, and administration teams, fostering a coaching‑led culture.
• Manage the creation of standardized, scalable training modules aligned to operational needs.
• Partner with Performance & Talent to strengthen leadership pipelines and succession planning.
• Align training initiatives with key business metrics such as labour cost, audit results, and customer experience.
• Maintain training tracking and reporting systems, providing insights to the executive committee.
• Build scalable training solutions to support new store openings and ongoing growth.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification and L&D/ETDP certification (e.g., CIPD Level 5/7, CPTD, or equivalent).
• 7–10+ years of experience in Learning & Development, preferably in QSR, retail, FMCG, or high‑volume environments.
• Proven track record of leading multi‑site training teams and building scalable leadership pipelines.
• Strong execution discipline with a focus on practical delivery.
• Data‑driven mindset, using insights to improve performance.
• Excellent influencing skills across operations and executive levels.
